Domaine de Beudon
Fully (Valais)
The sub-text on the bottles, literally “Vines in the sky”, gives full meaning to this unreal and timeless place: Domaine de Beudon is perched at an altitude of 750-900m on a 6-hectare plateau in Fully (Valais), overlooking the Rhône plain. The magic of the place is total, as evidenced by the fact that access to the estate is only possible by cable car. There are also a few vineyards at the start of the cable car, just below the steep and vertiginous escarpments that separate them from the upper part of the estate.
It is this wonderful context that led Marion and Jacques Granges, the brilliant founders of the estate almost 50 years ago and emblematic figures of the practice of natural wines in Switzerland, to adopt a radical and non-interventionist attitude in the vineyard, in a spirit of total preservation of nature and biodiversity at the party. Biodynamics is therefore practised with care for a gentle and harmonious agriculture, as shown by this astonishing record: the greatest diversity of butterflies in Switzerland populates this unusual place. You have to see it to believe it!
In the cellar, the purity of the harvested grapes allows for a vinification with indigenous yeasts. The juices are not filtered and offer excellent ageing potential. The range of vintages available for each cuvée is impressive and bears witness to a transparent and authentic approach over the decades.
